May is an exceptional month, and nature’s beauty reaches another level. In certain places, you get a rare chance to see breathtaking fields covered in flowers. These landscapes are fleeting, you usually have only two to three weeks to catch the full bloom.

I was lucky enough to catch some spring fields in May, and I’m sharing five wild beauties that bloom during the month.

Chamomile Field

Chamomile blooms look like a piece of heaven on earth. These daisy-like flowers last only about three weeks, and as temperatures rise, they begin to wither.

If you haven’t walked in a chamomile field before, next May, bring it into your May bucket list. Many locals pick the flowers during peak bloom to dry them for herbal tea. So it’s exceptionally beautiful, and useful!

The village where I saw those chamomiles also had huge rocks, and the combination made the experience even more exceptional.

Field of Poppies

Hills and meadows covered with vibrant red poppies make for a dreamlike scene. The more rainfall there is in spring, the more poppies will grow in the fields. Mid-May is usually the best time for visiting poppies, and just like chamomile, they have a short life span and last about two weeks.

Poppies and chamomiles often grow in the same region, as they need the same climate and conditions.

Field of Green Wheat

May is a magical month. Everywhere you go, you can find another field that leaves you speechless. The wheat field is another beauty. Despite what we usually picture when we think of wheat, it’s all green in May! In other words, May is the growing time for wheat, and in about five to six weeks, the field turns golden.

One of the moments I can share from this field is spotting a ladybug on wheat. There was also a single tree at the edge of the wheat field. In this YouTube Short, you can see the ladybug, the tree, and the vastness of the field.

Wild Yarrow Patch

I noticed some wild plants on the hills, and they were yarrows. Yarrows look greenish and grow scattered in mountainous regions from May to late June. They look beautiful, but their healing properties beat the beauty.

Spring’s Yellow Stocks

These small flowers add to the beauty of green lands in spring and summer. I saw a patch of yellow stocks in a high-altitude place with a cold climate.

What I Saw in May

Literally everywhere you go in May, you see natural colors in nature, and each of them leaves you speechless. What makes these phenomena beautiful is that they grow after a long, cold season and add color to the landscape. Walking in quiet fields is undoubtedly one of the most enjoyable activities to do in spring.

I was lucky to visit these places at the right time. If I were to choose one as the best, I would say the poppy land. The color and wildness of poppies have a unique aesthetic.
